Why wasting time when you can go to a visa-free international country whenever you want. One such amazing international destination is Bhutan.
Being India’s neighbors, people from India visit Bhutan quite often. This last great “Himalayan Kingdom” is known for beautiful landscapes, amazing dzongs, mystical monasteries, and much more. Also, Bhutan follows the concept of Gross National Happiness Index, which makes their style of living completely unique. This country promotes tourism and always welcomes foreigners with open arms. Indians do not need to pay any environmental tax unlike foreigners, who have to pay a fee of USD 250 per day.
Visa Requirements:
You can travel to Bhutan by national airlines Druk Air, Bhutan Airlines or by land.
Visa: Indians do not require any visa.
General Requirements:
- 6-month valid Indian Passport
- Voter ID
- Two passport-sized photograph
- Booking Details of your stay
- Itinerary of your trip
- A copy of marriage certificate for couples
Those who are coming by road are required to acquire an “Entry Permit” from the Immigration Office of the Royal Government of Bhutan at Phuentsholing. This permit is issued based on a valid Travel Document. You will get a seven-day entry-cum-stay permit from the border offices.
Tourists traveling through the air will get their entry permit at the Paro International Airport. This permit allows travelers to visit only Thimphu and Paro. You are required to obtain a ‘special area permit’ from the RGoB Immigration Office located at Thimphu to visit other areas of Bhutan.
An ‘Identification Slip’ is issued by the Indian consulate office located in Phuentsholing in case of the absence of a valid travel document. Proof of Indian Nationality has to be presented at the time of applying for this slip.
