Colonel Barog was a British railway engineer who constructed the Barog railway station in Shimla. According to legend, he was entrusted with the task of constructing tunnel 33 at this station. It was discovered after the project had been underway for several days that the length had been incorrectly estimated, which led to the project’s complete failure. After receiving criticism and a fine from the government, Barog was unable to control his despair. One day, while out for a stroll with his dog, he shot himself to death at the Barog Railway Station, just next to the tunnel, using a handgun. He was forced to deplane at the Chittoor railway station due to his severe injuries, and after being transferred to a nearby hospital, he passed away from his wounds ten days later. It is thought that ever since then, his spirit has been wandering the train station’s platforms in quest of retribution and justice.

5. Naini Junction, Uttar Pradesh

Adjacent to the Naini Junction is the Naini Jail, the site of many political dissidents’ torture in the past. It is thought that these people’s “ghosts,” who were tortured and eventually killed, walk the intersection after dusk since their spirits were unable to find comfort in the hereafter.

It is said that Subhash, a former employee of the Computer Reservation System who passed away in 2004, still visits this station in spirit.
